Whenever any of us here at Spencer Radio Group get the privilege to step away from behind the microphone and get involved in the communities we serve, we jump at the opportunity. Monday evening, December 3rd was Spencer’s annual Grand Meander. Of the many events held in Spencer during the year, this is one of the most profound and special. Families from all over meander throughout downtown celebrating the Christmas season and enjoy great company and fellowship. For those who have attended, you can relate how special it i
During this year’s Grand Meander, we were honored to accompany Spencer Mainstreet Director, Nancy Naeve in our SRG Mobile Sleigh, and drive Santa Claus down Grand avenue from the Spencer Fire Station to the Tree of Joy. During the short 5 minute ride, Santa cheerfully waved and wished families and children “Merry Christmas!” Children were lined up on the sidewalks waiting to get a glimpse of Santa, hoping for a jolly wink or wave from the big man himself. It was equally as thrilling to watch reactions of the parents and grandparents as they witnessed the excitement from their children. There was no question, the true spirit of Christmas was very present in downtown Spencer!
SRG would like to extend a thanks to C & B Operations of Spencer for the use of one of their units. Their support and partnership is much appreciated. We also thank Spencer Mainstreet for inviting us to be part of this special event. Lastly, a big thanks to the community for making the Grand Meander what it is. Without the support of the downtown businesses, local organizations and groups and countless volunteers, it wouldn’t be the magical evening it is.
On behalf of all of us at Spencer Radio Group, have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
